Out of everything in the world...I imagine I'm not alone in this

 

Nothing like the weight and feel of a book. I'm currently rereading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. Completely different and rewarding experience with a physical copy of the book as opposed to when I first read a PDF copy of it.

 

I very much dislike digital books. Part of the experience of reading, to me, is using my senses. Curling up and holding the book in my lap, feeling the texture of the pages, the weight of the book, even the look of rhe ink. Digital formats are so cold and slick.

And then when the book is done, and if I really liked it, I’ll put it on my shelf to read again later. And it makes me happy to see it there every day, and I remember the story. On a kindle, you just turn off the screen and it vanishes and it’s like the experience never happened.

 

Not that I drank any, Driving around and drinking, that early in the day seemed crazy

 

I wish they still did that lol

 

I'm speaking only by way of cultural osmosis, as your experience is decades prior to my birth, but I always got the impression casual day drinking wasn't given much attention. I mean unless, of course, you were a slovenly lush stumbling around by 10 am or something.

How do I know this was a straight copy and paste?

 

Could be they just put on "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and we're about to be advised of Raul Duke and Dr. Gonzo's location when the drugs kicked in?

 

I could recite this song off top of my head, I’m a musical buff, it’s my guilty pleasure.

I genuinely love the smell, obviously reminds me of childhood and now my kids... But I really do love it regardless of that

 

Vanilla is like an aphrodisiac to me CP! It's delicious.

Oh god yes, with almonds as well, especially when making Marzipan. Yummmmm

 

I had a coworker who could not smell. It was a brain thing she was born with. I can’t even imagine missing out on that.

 

Wow! That must be really weird, also when you can't smell food doesn't taste the same either.

I have a brother who's deaf, and has to wear titanium implanted hearing aids... Another I can't imagine what it was like until he could hear again

 

Yes she said she couldn’t taste much either! Only if the food was extra spicy!

 

Or burned like charcoal like mine was, when I attempted to make some during Covid Lockdown

 

Play Doh tastes good tho and the smell is just fine. Think I’ll go dig out my Play Doh mop top hair shop.

 

Something about the smell and squish of it. Play dough I mean lol

I was just going to post about the smell of fresh bread then read through some posts and saw yours ,so thought I’ll just like your post instead lol ,great choice @Cherrypop ,I used to live near a bakery and walking past smelling it from there always made me want to buy fresh bread lol
