i have been reading about socks since joining, now i know what it means. can't see the point of it personally.
as for the other socks, bamboo ones suck, they take ages to dry

 

I never have two that match

 

This forum started to die the day the sock accounts started to show up. Because the only purpose of having a sock account is to deceive. And it took me a while to figure out the motivation. Why would you do that? What purpose can it possibly serve to try and deceive people in GD section of a porn forum? I finally figured out like all the sexual persuasions we see around this porn forum some people get off on trying to fool other people. And there is also people who just start getting generally ignored so they break out a new sock and try to get people to engage with them. And you cannot ever seem to get rid of them.

I have long advocated for one account per member and if you get caught with sock accounts you and all your socks get permanently banned. So for one thing we could see just how many sock accounts we had been engaging with. That would be good to know.

But alas the administration seems impotent in the face of socks and can't even ban people and keep them from just coming back.

 

My awakening came back in the early days when I would debate any member that had an opposite view. And we actually had real debates back then although often very spirited and I was battling about six different members on this one thread. I was working my ass at it and it was keeping me on that one thread when there were way better things going on on the rest of the board.

It's not just the socks you have to worry about. It's also the one account members, who use others trying to seek information

I’m nor sure I could hide my personality enough to have a sock account. I think it would be pretty obvious it was me.

 

I prefer mismatched socks. I even buy them that way when possible.

 

I like socks when I wear work boots, not with tennis shoes!

 

I prefer clogs.

 

I only buy white cotton socks so any two I grab are a matched set.

 

Me too with the white socks, but they come in 3 different lengths, so they get 3 categories.

Socks, or alts, or whatever you want to call them are just part of the social forum environment, just another form of attention whore. Xnxx seems to have more than I've encountered on other forums. The most prolific socks seem to be the outrage troll. All they want to do is provoke indignant responses from other people, all explaining how terribly wrong they are. They're pretty easy to recognize after a few posts and I just don't pay any attention to them. They run their course and enough people give up talking to them, they get so outrageous it gets them banned, or a new name appears.

 

I hardly even wear shoes lately and I have well over 80 pairs.

 

More socks...more traffic...more value...more money.

 

I couldn't be arsed with a sock on here, but I have had one on a different, more kink based forum.
I was experimenting with Domme, and when that didn't work for me I tried sub. I had two different accounts because the profiles were set up very differently, but they were both true to who I am and I was perfectly open about what I was doing and why.

Back when there was all the drama on the stories board there were more socks than you'd find in a grandma's Christmas shopping. It was all designed so people could start shit from the sock account on behalf of the real account, but the real account could appear to be an innocent bystander (on occasion the real account would appear to argue with its own sock "can't we all just get back to writing? Can't we all just be friends?").
It also meant someone could enter more than one story into the CAW competitions, and have all their socks vote their stories up. It was a hell of a thing to watch play out on here.

These days the socks I see tend to be suspended or banned members. They do give themselves away, they know more about me than I've said in public, or they refer to an old in-joke. It annoys me, because I wish they'd just be straight and up front when messaging. I don't lose sleep over it though, it's just not that important to me.
