  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I recently bought a used 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 because it had a stick shift and a spare stick shift transmission.

Anyway, It didn't seem to have enough air flow from the blower to either defrost, or A/C the cab. Starting to get hot out now, so I decided to get to work on this issue.

I pulled the blower motor, and it works fine. Then despite all the fan settings setting blower speeds seemed ok, I pulled the resistor out, well it was so full of leaves and dog hair and other shit, that it was like emptying a vacume cleaner bag. So with a shop vac and screwdriver, I cleaned all the shit out that I could find in there.

Result: Much better air flow, and pretty good air flow to defrost now, though it seems a minute or so, from
switching A/C to defrost for the air flow to actually change.

      and the issue is ?

Surely a minute or so to change from one output to another is not out of the ordinary.
You can't expect any such system to produce two different outputs instantly

It does takes a finite amount of time for the heater to start blowing hot after switching from A/C to defrost. Unless… he was talking about the change of air flow direction, which shouldn’t take much more than a few seconds.

In which case, look at the air flow damper.

    3. FuntimeFla
I was speaking of the time between air flow directions, not the temperature, as I did not adjust the temp. Not being familiar with the construction of the system this could be normal. While I have dissassembled my Jeep's system to clean it, I have not done one on a Dodge, though they have some relation.

My main curiosity is if there are other parts of the system that get trash build up and need to be cleaned?

This is a perfect example of a kind of automotive or electrical placebo effect.

It’s great that you can do all that. Need to get my a/c fixed and it’s going to cost me a bundle.

If it’s the air flow you’re speaking of, check the damper and lubricate the assembly. If it’s the temp, well… it does take x amount of time to switch from A/C to heat.

Though, can’t imagine why you need the defrogger in May in Florida. Just saying.

    1. FuntimeFla
Well in May I haven't but in April I did. Everyday I cross the St. Johns river on my way to work and it fogs up the windshield, thus the need for the defrog. Now its warm enough I wont need it until Dec. Not totally the point though, I want to get it working right.

Ordered an '87 Dakota long bed from the factory with a V6... got 6 miles to a gallon downhill with the wind behind me. Had a '77 300 Van, needed a bank and a gas station to keep it running. Gave up. On the upside had a buddy in the 70s bought an old highway patrol Coronet 440 with the supercharger still in it... that son of a bitch hauled ass, but was still a dog on gas.

Had both 89 and 95 Dakota's, very trouble free, both stick shift 3.9's got 200,000 out of both of them. The first I traded for the second, the second got wrecked.
Now I have 2 Ram 1500's and a 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 06 Charger, and a 02 Dale Earnhardt Monte Carlo, and a 84 Pontiac Fiero Indy.
The 02 Ram 1500 came with my house when I bought the house, the 03 I bought later because it came with an extra stick shift NV 4500 that I'm putting in the 02.

Truth be told, I had a 97 Wrangler for 17 years... but I still think of Jeeps being made by Willys... like they were when I was a kid. Got 200K out of it, and the only thing that ever needed repairs was the tranny seals needed replacing at 100K. Took it from the top of the Rockies to the bottom of several canyons, stock no fancy lockers or articulated suspension and didn't put a winch on it till it was ten years old. But when it died, it went fast.

For the record FORD ( Fucking Old Rebuilt Dodge ) ! The Model T was designed and built for Henry Ford by the Dodge brothers, Ford didn't pay them their money, so they went out on their own. So in reality, the Ford Model T, should be called the Dodge Model T. The Influenza pandemic killed the Dodge brothers, and the company sold to Dillon Reed , and then to Walter Chrysler.

You just like I watch The Smithsonian channel . I didn’t think the Dodge brothers were around in the model T time I thought they came after that good job if that is true

It is true, they designed most of Fords cars Pre model T, but it was the Model T that took off and made Ford. They founded in 1900, didn't start making their own cars until 1914
